Burglary occurs at Pizza Hut
BURGLARY INVESTIGATION – Amelia sheriff's deputies were inside the Pizza Hut in the Village Square Shopping Center Monday (Jan. 16) conducting an investigation of a burglary. The business' preventive measures as indicated by the sign on the front of the store (below) apparently were to no avail.
The day-shift manager arrived at the Pizza Hut located in Amelia's Village Square Shopping Center on eastbound U.S. Rt. 360 Monday (Jan. 16) morning to find the front door unlocked, the safe's door open and the night deposit missing.
According to Amelia Sheriff Ricky Walker, the day-shift manager arrived at approximately 8 a.m. Monday. This means the burglary occurred between 11:30 p.m. Sunday (Jan. 15) when the employees left and the time the day-shift person arrived.
Sheriff Walker said the missing money was about $1,100 in cash and coins.
There was no indication of forced entry into the building, Sheriff Walker said.
